Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Non-spoiler thoughts: A kind of forgettable movie with some nice touches.
Yay class mobility (Rey coming from parents of no particular background) and women and Asians playing lead roles. Yay cool fight scenes and cleverness.
Luke makes many good points about the Jedi religion/training program being an institution that is better off gone.
A lot of fridge logic in this movie, e.g., that particular double-crossing thief being in their cell, how long it takes to get from one place to another, etc.
Rose, the idea that you should save things you love rather than attack things you hate is a very slender reed on which to base your battle tactics.
There are conservatives who are mad at this movie? Why? What is controversial about it?
As with The Force Awakens, I am reminded that I am not the target audience. I prefer the Mahabharata to the Ramayana and I prefer Star Trek to Star Wars. Messy stories about inner conflict and cleverness are more interesting than Light Versus Darkness. The Last Jedi is more to my liking, on this axis, than are many other Star Wars films, but still.
