Grant proposal prep webcast
Sep. 23rd, 2019 03:50 pmI am currently watching a webcast to help me write a grant proposal for the National Science Foundation's Cyberinfrastructure for Sustained Scientific Innovation (CSSI) solicitation.
I think this webcast is basically three men in suits reading aloud a slightly rearranged version of the solicitation text, with a slide deck that is parts of the solicitation that have been rearranged into slides.
My brain does try to leak through my ears as I attempt to absorb this info either in written or aural form, so it's probably good that I'm watching this. And there's a Q&A section where I can ask questions if I have any, and hear others' questions and the NSF's answers. But: just as conference calls are the opposite of meditation, I think this particular form of mass media, and content contained within, epitomizes a particular aspect of modern civilization that is the opposite of, like, hiking and singing.
