I can see how the overloading of the content warnings to mean just a cut tag could have a similar aggravating effect to people using alt text for punchlines or citing sources and credits. And it's equally messy to call out. We want you to use alt text! Just... use it in a way that doesn't diminish its utility, please? is tough to explain, and I can see some of the CW conversations going the same way.
On the issue of widespread movement building, I have to wonder if the aspects of twitter (single site with algorithmic timeline) that helped raise the profile of BLM could possibly happen without that platform also being used to spread hate, misinformation, etc. so widely. I assume people have written about this as well -- I know many of the voices on Black Twitter are extremely thoughtful about these issues -- but so far I've not seen it.
