I was stumbling around the English Wikipedia category "ABC News personalities" today to try to remember Bill Kristol's name, and found out that someone I went to high school with has a Wikipedia biography and has won an Emmy. Goodness! I remember her being nice in high school and I remember a piece she wrote for the literary magazine about dealing with her mom's lupus. I'm glad she is doing well.

I suppose she might be one of the two most famous people to ever graduate from our high school, the other being one of the cofounders of Pavement. Also I wonder what it would be like to be on Facebook, just for a day, to more easily find out stuff like this.

Funny story -- as a kid in a no-alcohol household, attending a school with a zero-tolerance policy on booze, I did not learn until AFTER my attendance that my high school was named after a wine grape.

I shall continue to avoid FB!

It could be that my greatest achievement has been encouraging some of my tech industry peers in ways that were small to me at the time and have paid great dividends for the world....
