some misc updates
- Leonard and I are now watching Avatar: The Last Airbender (we'd previously watched Legend of Korra but not Avatar). We are in Season 1. Fun so far!
- It looks like Friday 21 August at 7pm ET I will be on a humorous panel at the scifi convention NASFiC and you can watch it for free with no registration. In order to attend, go to the NASFiC site at that time and watch for free via streaming video.
The session is "Imaginary Book Club":Panelists discuss amazing books they've read in the past year! The catch: none of those books exist.
- I heard gossip the other day about an absolute disaster of an internal company meeting, and it reminded me how valuable my meeting-running skills are. Easy to forget sometimes when I only remember my mistakes.
- The other day, through Ask a Manager comment threads (some links), I learned about the Job Accommodation Network which has a giant organized list of accommodations an employer could make, sorted "by disability, by limitation, by work-related function, by topic, and by accommodation". For example, here's a list of strategies and accommodations that may be helpful if an employee has an anxiety disorder. What a lovely and utopian project, to help us learn and think of ways to help each other do stuff.

I love them both. I know they are flawed, but I love them anyway. The character development for Zuko and Uncle Iroh still dazzles me. And both shows reward multiple viewings...

I am so signing up to watch that panel!

Do you mean a recommended strategy for immediate incident response? I put "violence" into their search and found some stuff but I don't know how much detail they go into. There's a set of "limitations" that might be useful to look through:
Control of Anger/Emotions
Behavior
Disruptive Behavior
Erratic/Inconsistent Behavior
Noncompliant Behavior
Stress Intolerance
I look forward to you enjoying the panel on Friday!

I'm introducing MyGuy to Avatar -- he actually laughs out loud several times.
It does lend itself to rewatch, which is a great quality in any medium. It's particularly great for things aimed at kids who are able to load a DVD themselves.
